P‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍roject II: "Marriage, the Family and Reproduction" Guidelines: I. Introduction: Create a visual (PowerPoint, Google Slide, Keynote) presentation that develops an analysis of 1) “marriage,” 2) “family,” and 3) “reproduction.” Since these are broad concepts limit yourself to one of the following topics and develop all three areas: Same sex marriage Single mothers (or single fathers) Inter-racial marriage Teen pregnancy Abortion II. Research: Investigate the topic you chose from the list above and conduct an interview of about 10 persons to obtain their views on the three concepts. Keep your questions simple and ask the same questionnaire (3-5 questions) to each subject. Use the data generated effectively to create a chart(s), graph(s) or a table(s) to best illustrate the results. The questions you ask should also be presented on a slide and discussed at length in the Notes section. The idea is to incorporate the information from the text and related anthropological sources in the discussion of each slide of your project. (Note: These topics may be a very intimate to a lot of people so you may consider a strategy to not disclose your subjects, such as only showing their hands, and make sure you ask for their permission to use their name and/or image. III. Visual Presentation Introduction (1-2 slides) Introduce the topic you chose from the list and discuss its anthropological significance, making sure you provide a detailed discussion on the first slide. You then discuss the three aspects of your analysis ("marriage," "family," and "reproduction") and whether you are focusing on ‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍one or all three, depending on the information you compiled. Body (2-3 slides) Discuss your research investigation and present the information collected. List the questions on a slide or two, including them in either on the canvas or in the Note discussion of the slide. Present the results of your answers obtained as a chart, graph or table. You may also want to provide a profile of one or more of the people you interviewed with their responses. Conclusion (1-2 slides) Provide a detailed conclusive analysis in the last slide or two, integrating the following ideas: What does your analysis indicate? Are you surprised by the results? ***** Tips: Use MS PowerPoint or Google Slides if possible. Each slide should have 2-3 bulleted terms on one half of the slide and the other half should have an image. You may put a title on each slide if you want. Put the minimum amount of text on each bullet, preferably just a term. These terms are in essence ideas that need to elaborated in detail in the Notes section, below the canvas when in Normal mode, so as to provide an in-depth discussion. Make sure you write the discussion in the Notes as if you were writing a paragraph of an essay, citing any information borrowed and then listing the references at the end of each Notes section. Remember, the idea of a visual presentation is so that you make it pleasing to the viewer by showing nice images. All the images, including your own, must be cited by putting the source in tiny letters in the lower part of the image itself and with a soft color tone.
